Throughout the 105 years of our presence in the Dutch Caribbean, Fatum has successfully focused on consistently delivering tangible value for its stakeholders. The Fatum staff succeeded in growing the business, thanks to a persistent and strong customer focus and sustained commercial activity.  

Key elements such as transparency, operational excellence, exceeding expectations in addition to compliance with governance guidelines, greatly added to Fatum’s success in the Dutch Caribbean economies while delivering sustainable value to customer, employee and shareholder.
 

Fatum ended the year 2009 with a net consolidated profit of ANG 28.1 million, an increase of more than 100% as compared to the previous year. The 2009 results were positively affected by fair value gains on overseas investments, following the global financial crisis of 2008 and its accompanying fair value losses. The yield on investments was 6.7%. 
 

Fatum, as part of Guardian Holdings Limited, is dedicated to being the local wealth management and protection champion. Over the last years we have established a clear commitment to operational excellence and customer centricity. In anticipation on future developments, we implemented new automated systems. Fatum will continue to direct all efforts towards a further enhancement of the service levels in order to ensure that our customers will continue to enjoy a pleasant experience with Fatum. We realize that the future might bring along unforeseen challenges, but our policyholders can rest assured that Fatum will always be there to offer value adding solutions.

Being able to invest in our local social and cultural development through donations and sponsoring has always been a privilege for us. For the future too, we aim at granting a continued financial support to areas such as youth and education programs, sport events, initiatives for the elderly and health stimulation programs.

We would like to thank all customers for their continuing loyalty, our employees for their commitment and dedication, the regulators and authorities in the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba for their ever present support. A special expression of gratitude goes also to our shareholders. It is with their support, direction and commitment that we succeed in maintaining high standards of governance and again achieved excellent 2009 business results. We are proud to serve our customers and to contribute to the further progress of our community!
